Chris Meloni Works Out in the Nude in Peloton Ad

So this is how Detective Stabler got shredded.

Christopher Meloni plays a hard-nosed and brash detective on Law and Order: Organized Crime, but the 61-year old actor is now the face—and full naked body—of Peloton’s latest ad.

In the minute-long commercial, released Thursday for National Nude Day (yes, it’s real), Meloni—wearing nothing but white socks and sneakers—shared how he does his favorite Peloton app workouts, au natural. Naked poolside yoga, clothes-less strength training, nude running in a public park. The best part: Meloni sees nothing wrong with it.

“Apparently, some people think the way I work out is strange,” Meloni says curling dumbbells at the top of the ad. But as the camera pans out, the TV detective isn’t wearing anything. “Honestly I don’t get it.”

The inspiration for the ad—produced by Ryan Reynolds’ marketing agency, Maximum Effort—was likely a May interview between Meloni and PEOPLE, where Meloni disclosed his penchant for working out nude.

“I work out naked. It’s my gym,” Meloni told PEOPLE. “And I don’t black out the window. And I’m okay with that. My wife is not.”

Reynolds poked fun at his own ad, tweeting: “This is a crime scene. Not an ad.”

Key Tips About Meloni’s Diet and Workout

In a 2021 Men’s Health interview, Meloni spilled all the helpful deets on how he stays lean and shredded in his 60’s. A big part of the credit goes to squats.

“They’ve paid dividends as far as me being reconnected to my physicalness and the stuff I have to do for the show,” he told Men’s Health. “I’m now a huge proponent of squats and I love them.”

He also does intermittent fasting, which he called a “game-changer.”

Meloni also stresses the importance of starting your morning off right. “Going through the ritual and everything about working out because it gets my head right. It centers me, gets me connected mind and body, and I feel as though I’ve accomplished something today,” Meloni told Men’s Health.
