I Lost 120 Pounds–and 20 Percent Body Fat–With TRT
I dropped 3 shirt and 4 pants sizes in six months.

I realized my weight was out of control back in 2016, when my then 3-year-old son asked me to wrestle with him. We moved the living room furniture and I hauled my 6-foot 1-inch, 280-pound body down to the carpet. After three minutes, I was so gassed I could barely stand back up.
It wasn’t always like this. During my time in the Army, I was 220 pounds of solid, lean muscle and physically very fit. But after I retired from service, my weight crept up, and my energy plummeted.
Any physical activity was exhausting, including a quarter-mile walk around my neighborhood. I was so tired that going to the gym wasn’t even an option. My son would ask me to wrestle with him and it depressed me to always say no.
Food was my only source of pleasure. I ate constantly. Anything high in fat and calories was on the table: fast food, pizza, ice cream, cookies, cakes. I ate continuously throughout the day, even if I wasn’t hungry.
By the winter of 2017, I weighed 340 pounds. I felt helpless every time I looked in the mirror. That once jacked soldier was now too heavy to do anything.
A few years later, I found an ad for Hone Health on Facebook. I knew a bit about TRT, and that it could help with weight loss but I hadn’t considered my levels could be low.
I was very skeptical because I didn’t know you could send a controlled substance in the mail. I tapped some of my medical friends and they reassured me it was legit. I ordered my test in July 2020. When it was revealed my T was 120 ng/dL, my doctor put me on TRT.
Within the first two weeks, my energy started to come back. I had the willpower to get up and workout again.
I also started using Athlean-X, a training program designed by personal trainer Jeff Cavaliere.
I also changed my diet to that of high protein, low sugar, and healthy, complex carbs for sustained energy—the same as when I was in the military.
Within two months, I was down 25 pounds. Six months in, I was 100 pounds down.
Checking your T levels is easy with Hone’s at-home assessment. You can knock it out before your AM coffee.
Let’s do thisI’ve been on TRT with Hone for three years and am back down to a lean 220 pounds. I’ve traded my 3XL shirts for larges. My waist size dropped from 44 inches to 36.
Losing the weight I gained from having low T has given me a new outlook on life.
My son and I are back on the carpet for the occasional father-son wrestling match-ups. He’s now nine and a whole lot bigger. But at least for now, I can sneak a victory here and there.
