Would You Let a Lawnmower Near Your Manhood?
I do.
I do.

I never thought I’d write a review about my balls. For work. But here I am.
Manscaping isn’t a topic of conversation I have with friends at the bar, but behind closed doors, I care. The problem is most razors leave me cut up with nicks and scratches.
From the early days of puberty, a hairy bush was never on my wishlist—and I’ll bet it wasn’t on yours either—but finding a trimmer that got the job done without leaving me wounded proved challenging.
Until I used Manscaped The Lawn Mower 4.0.
So unless you want Disney to film a live-action remake of George of the Jungle between your legs, read on.
Manscaped started in 2016 as a way to reinvent the idea around men’s grooming. Their claim to fame is that their line of trimmers handle all men’s needs below the waist without nicks or cuts.
After an appearance on Shark Tank, Manscaped took off into a saturated market of more than just ball trimmers. Their most recent product—the Lawn Mower 4.0—is their sleekest, most versatile razor yet.
The Lawn Mower 4.0 uses a ceramic blade that is set back from the edge of the trimmer’s body for a precision buzz. Why do I care so much? I haven’t had a nick or scratch yet.
The top of the trimmer has a flat surface about the size of my thumb tip that lines up with the actual blade. This allows a smooth glide across your skin to trim away all the hair you want gone. While Manscaped doesn’t guarantee cut protection for their trademarked SkinSafe tech, I’ve yet to need a bandaid.
No, I’m not spending an hour and a half sculpting my stones, but 90 minutes of full charge is great if you forget to charge it. Using electromagnetic induction—a fancy way to say it generates an electric current using a magnetic field—a convenient charging dock eliminates a constant need for loose wires.
It’s nice to see what you’re doing. A small LED light sits in an indent on the front of the razor and is surprisingly powerful. Those hard-to-see areas—we don’t have to tell you where—are a thing of the past.
If the power went out and I didn’t have a flashlight, hell, I might use this ball shaver.
The Lawn Mower 4.0 is lightweight and durable for easy maneuvering. A smooth handle provides great grip for handling and it’s beyond comfortable to use.
The best part; it’s waterproof. If you’re sick of sweeping hairs off the floor—or tired of your partner commenting on your manscaping hygiene—you can use it in the shower.
I’d recommend investing in a bottle of Draino.
At $85, this trimmer is definitely an investment. For durability, I have to say two years in I don’t regret the decision. To replace one ceramic head, it costs $15 which is a little steep. And if you end up losing the charging base, you need to contact Manscaped for a replacement and that price is unknown.
This is definitely a downside and adds to the post-trim routine. You can fit close to 15 Post-It notes in the space between the body of the razor and the ceramic head—yes, I tested—as you can imagine, that’s a lot of space for hair to collect.
Popping the blade out is easy enough, but getting in there to keep your lawnmower clean is not a fun task.
The men’s trimmer market has plenty of options to choose from (just walk through any CVS aisle). For a quality buzz, there are a few that give the Lawn Mower 4.0 a run for its money.
At $72, Meridian is a precision-grade trimmer most close to Manscaped’s grooming powers. They’re virtually the same razor, just Meridian sits $13 cheaper.
Philips Norelco has the Darth Maul of razors with their two-sided Bodygroom Series 7000. A shaver on one end and a trimmer on the other, this full-body razor holds an hour of full charge.
A popular budget option is the Gillette Styler with three comb attachments for $26. Much smaller, the Styler runs on double AA batteries but is still okay to use in the shower.
