Finasteride and Minoxidil are medications primarily used to treat hair loss.
Finasteride works by inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha reductase. This enzyme converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that can cause prostate growth and hair loss. By reducing DHT levels, finasteride can decrease prostate size and slow hair loss.
