NP Thyroid (desiccated thyroid) is a naturally-derived combination of the triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) thyroid hormones made by your thyroid gland. It is not recommended as the primary treatment for hypothyroidism. It is a natural glandular supplement product made from animal thyroid glands (usually a pig’s).

Avoid use of NP Thyroid in individuals with hypersensitivity to any component, untreated thyrotoxicosis, or uncorrected adrenal insufficiency.
Adverse reactions often indicate excess thyroid replacement, including abdominal cramps, ataxia, cardiac arrhythmia, weight loss, etc.

Liothyronine is ineffective for weight reduction in normal thyroid patients and may cause serious or life-threatening toxicity, especially when taken with amphetamines.
